Setting up Pretendo on 3ds

Since the official servers have been shut down, Pretendo offers a community-based solution for playing online for certain games or maintaining a friend list. Pretendo services work both on 3ds and WiiU, but this guide will cover 3ds.

Setting up Pretendo

  1. Go to Pretendo and create an account.
  2. In your 3DS, open Universal Updater and find Nimbus, and install.
  3. Open Nimbus, you should see two options - one to select Pretendo and one to select Nintendo servers. Select Pretendo. It will now close - this is normal.
  4. Open System Settings and go to Nintendo ID. Hit Link an Account and enter your Pretendo information. Now you can share your Friend ID and play online in certain games!
  5. Note: If you have Badge Arcade information, it may be a good idea to back up your badges before swapping to Pretendo. To back up your badges, copy the contents of this folder to somewhere on your computer: SD:Nintendo 3DS/ID0/ID1/extdata/00000000/000014d1. Please see here for more information.
