Access 3ds SD card

Depending on your setup, removing the SD card from your 3ds anytime you need to access it to remove or add content can be very annoying. This guide will walk you through how to set up your 3ds so that you won't need to physically remove the card from your device.

Setting up FTP

  1. You will need Filezilla on your computer, or any other FTP program. You can also download apps for your phone or tablet that will also work. Filezilla is located here.
  2. Launch FTPD on your 3DS. If it didn't come preinstalled, just go ahead and get it from Universal Updater.
  3. You will see something that looks like this: Started server at [192.168.X.XX]:5000. The number in brackets is the IP address and the 5000 is the port number.
  4. Keep FTDP open on your 3DS, and launch Filezilla on your computer (or your preferred program). Under Host at the top, enter JUST the number inside the brackets. So, enter 192.168.X.XX, whatever the number is. Ignore Username and Password, and under Port enter 5000.
  5. Filezilla may give you a notice that says "This server does not support FTP over TLS." Just hit OK.
  6. Now you should see your folders on your SD card listed in the right box below! Now you can change whatever you need.
